Tristalee ManginUniversity of Utah, PhD Chemical Engineering

Tristalee Mangin is a doctoral candidate in Chemical Engineering at the University of Utah, working in Dr. Kerry Kelly’s research laboratory (https://kairlab.che.utah.edu/team/). Her research is focused on enhancing data integrity from low-cost sensor networks and applying these networks in community research contexts. She has led two community-based research initiatives. The first project sought to mitigate discretionary vehicle idling by implementing a dynamic feedback messaging system that integrated measurements from low-cost air quality sensors. The second project involved monitoring indoor air quality during outdoor pollution events and evaluating the impact on indoor particulate matter levels. She is deeply committed to advancing air quality in urban settings.

Callum FlowerdayBrigham Young University, PhD Analytical Chemistry

Callum Flowerday is a PhD candidate in Analytical Chemistry at Brigham Young University, where he also completed his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. His research involves developing innovative instruments using Broadband Cavity-Enhanced Absorption Spectroscopy (BBCEAS) to measure trace atmospheric species, enhancing our understanding of air quality and oxidative dynamics. With a background in both atmospheric chemistry and particulate matter studies, Callum is dedicated to addressing environmental challenges through comprehensive air quality research. He aspires to become a research professor, where he plans to continue his impactful research and mentor future scientists.

Laura LundahlUniversity of Utah, MS Mechanical Engineering

Laura Lundahl is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah specializing in thermofluids and sustainable energy. Her work focuses on heat transfer analysis of supercritical carbon dioxide for use in nuclear energy applications. Laura hopes to contribute to developments in nuclear energy, thereby reducing carbon emissions and ensuring stable energy generation for populations worldwide.

Alli Brown, Weber State University, BS Applied Environmental Geosciences

Allison Brown is a junior at Weber State University working towards a degree in Applied Environmental Geosciences. She works at her university in the Energy and Sustainability Office as the Zero Waste Coordinator, promoting recycling and waste reduction within the higher education setting. Her current focuses include implementing a successful composting program, reintroducing recycling to the on-campus housing facilities, and creating green purchasing guidelines for faculty and staff to utilize when purchasing supplies.
